Diversity: looks at all our human differences, people with different backgrounds and identities in the same spaces (race, gender, ethnicity, economic status, religion, gender identity, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, military status, etc..).

Equity: is an approach that ensures everyone has access to the same opportunities. Equity recognizes that advantages and barriers exist and that as a result, we all don’t start from the same place. Equity is the process that begins by acknowledging that unequal starting place and continues to correct and address the imbalance. Equity is about creating fair access, opportunity, and advancement for a diverse group of people.

Inclusion: the action or state of including or of being included within a group or structure. Included means contained as part of a whole being considered.

Belonging: One’s physical, emotional, and psychological safety; the indescribable feeling of being welcome. It is the experience of being a member of an organization or group in which one feels supported and validated and has the ability to thrive as their true authentic self.

Justice: The systematic fair treatment of people, resulting in equitable opportunities and outcomes for all. All barriers have been removed.
